Plush mattresses are designed to give you the feeling of "sleeping on a cloud." They generally use a forgiving coil system and/or soft cushion layers to cradle you in plush, contouring comfort. For the most part, plush mattresses work for all three sleeping positions (back, side, and stomach), but those who dislike the enveloping, "quicksand" feeling sometimes used to describe plush mattresses should be wary they don't go too high on the Comfort Scale.
With very soft plush mattresses, you are also likely to sink in which can be detrimental to stomach sleepers and those with back or neck problems who need rigid spinal alignment.
