My Experience Testing The Purple Restore Mattresses

Restore Premier Firm

The Restore Premier Firm mattress has a good sitting edge that provides strong support, holding me up comfortably without collapsing. However, the fabric around the edge tends to puff out a bit. While lying on the mattress, I noticed it was a little hard to move around, which may be due to its firmness. It offers a solid, supportive surface but lacks some flexibility when shifting positions.

Restore Premier Soft

The Restore Premier Soft shares the same edge support as the firm version, providing a stable feel when sitting. However, my experience lying down was different. My hips tended to sink deeper into the mattress, offering good lower-back support by pushing gently against me. On the other hand, my shoulders didn’t sink in as much as I’d expected, which made the upper body feel less contoured and supported in comparison.

Restore Plus Firm

The Restore Plus Firm felt only slightly firmer than the soft version. There wasn’t a huge difference in firmness, but the subtle increase in firmness made it feel just a bit less yielding. It still maintained a good balance between support and comfort without feeling too rigid.

Restore Plus Soft

The Restore Plus Soft has excellent edge support, allowing me to sit comfortably and even lay very close to the edge without feeling like I might fall off. There’s almost a lip-like structure that helps hold me in place, a feature I’ve noticed with all the Purple Plus and Premier mattresses so far. However, this mattress doesn’t contour to my body as much as the others—it gives more of a sensation of floating on top rather than sinking in.

Restore Firm

The Restore Firm gave me a similar experience to the soft version in terms of overall structure, but the top layer of foam felt denser. This density was noticeable right away when lying down, as I didn’t sink into it as much as with the softer mattresses. It offered a firmer, more immediate support across the surface.

Restore Soft

The Restore Soft had less supportive sitting edges compared to the other models I tried. However, sleeping near the edge was still comfortable and didn’t feel unstable. The mattress had a bit more bounce, which seemed to come from the reduced amount of grid material to absorb motion. This bounce made it easier to change positions while sleeping or resting.

Discussing the Comfort

When speaking with a Purple representative, he explained to me that firm and soft refers to the support then you can have a pillow top or tight top over it so most of these beds actually have a medium comfort feel. Based on how they felt to me, I would agree with this.

Purple Pros and Cons

PROS CONS
  • Really comfortable feel
  • Great at pressure relief
  • Positive reviews
  • Comfort feels tend to be more medium so it works great as a bed for couples or for someone who changes positions
  • Unique experience with how the grid feels
  • New technology of the Purple Grid is not tested by time
  • Expensive for most people

Conclusion

Purple has created some incredibly innovative mattresses. This hybrid collection runs in the middle of their range.

I definitely recommend trying these mattresses, as they have become very popular and gotten a lot of good reviews.

I tested one out and I really enjoyed the feeling of the Purple Grid. I don't know if it'd be for everyone, so I do think it's a good idea to test it out before you buy one. I felt like it provided really good pressure relief when laying on my side, so I liked that.

If you want to try something new and are looking for the next technology, look no further than the Purple mattresses. The hybrid collection is a great place to start because it still has the traditional support of an innerspring.
